In my attempt to lose weight fast and pursue this 3 day crash diet I have interviewed Tim Morrison CEO of FitnessTV. Tim talks about FAD diets, health and his own personal health tips. As being the CEO of a multi million pound health and fitness company I have an exclusive interview with Tim to discover his own opinion of celebrity culture FAD diet culture.
Director of Sky channel FitnessTV, Charlie Louise in an exclusive interview. She talks about her personal experience with FAD diets and what she thinks is needed to achieve healthy weight loss.
Q: Why do you think people are drawn to FAD diets?
A: For the majority of people it is due to the media. FAD diets are labeled quick fixes. The idea of changing your body shape in a space of a week or less is unachievable. A lifestyle change is the only way you will maintain your weight loss, and you’ll end up loosing more weight by changing your lifestyle diet. Celebrities who publicly announce what fad diet they do is also detrimental to the health/fitness industry, it is irresponsible for their fans to hear this as they might try to emulate this unhealthy diet.
Q: Being a leading figure of a TV channel, do you think it’s important to use celebrities who haven’t been reported to use FAD diets or who don’t look healthy?
A: We have a huge responsibility. We recently had a new yoga series to be aired on the channel from the states, but during the last checks, I noticed the instructor was petite but was very skinny. This is was no no for me and we immediately cancelled the show. We have a huge responsibility to promote a healthy lifestyle to our customers and audience. We promoted Kim Kardashian’s latest product. She has also photographed going to the gym and she is an advocate for eating a balanced diet. Her curvy figure has always been celebrated and we are over the moon to promote her to our channel.
A: Have you ever tried FAD diets before?
Q: Yes I have tried loads; The Atkins, 2 weeks and 5 days diet. I mean I’m a woman at the end of the day, I have body hang ups and I’m in my twenties, so I feel the pressure. I do take part in FAD diets, as in a form of research but when I have tried them the weight doesn’t stay off and I have got ill because of it.
Q: Since you have tired FAD diets, do you have any funny stories from doing any of them?
A: The worst diet I did was the Atkins. It was great that I could eat cheese and meat as much as I want, but I passed wind a lot. This was not suitable for when I had business meetings. I would never do that diet again.
Q: Your channel promotes food supplements, healthy foods and fitness products. Do you think diet is a huge part of loosing weight or exercise?
A: They are both the same in importance. The combination of the two is a personal thing that is a different balance for everyone. We have a new product we are promoting Raw Food: The healthy lifestyle. Working out is part of loosing weight, but our diet and our relationship with food of high importance personally.
Q: Do you think FAD diets are dangerous?
A: Yes, I do. The idea of a quick fix sounds appealing but the internal effects of FAD diets are detrimental to our health. However I do think detox’s are a healthy way to cleanse and our body. Celebrities use detox’s before events in a way to loose weight, but the idea of a detox is to get rid of the toxins in your body and improve your skin. Weight loss does occur but this is healthy and makes you feel rejuvenated.

In my battle to shed weight quickly I have researched what seems hundreds of diets, and here are my top 5 fad diets. The have been chosen for being the most crazy, effective and the best quick fix.
This is one of the craziest diets I have ever heard off. The diet itself consists of lettuce, spinach, coffee, boiled eggs and water to curb cravings. The rule is if you break any of the rules you have to immediately stop and wait 6 months to try it again. It is designed to increase your metabolism and is has been (loosely) claimed to make you loose up to 22 pounds. This diet in my opinion is a way to starve yourself and I can imagine after the fifth day I will be devouring a chocolate bar.
Favoured by Beyonce this diet claims that you can loose a stone in a fortnight. The concoction consists of syrup mixed with lemon juice, water and cayenne pepper. You don’t eat anything for 2 weeks and can only drink this and water. This in my opinion would work, but you starve yourself and you’ll bound to gain the weight back once you start eating solids again. You have 2-3 of this syrup cocktail each day and the weight is simply meant to melt away.
This diet only last for 7 days, more manageable then some other diets. I have tried this diet last year and it worked, but I gained the weight straight back. The cabbage soup flushes everything, and I mean everything, out of your system. All you can have is cabbage, carrots, leafy greens, cranberry juice and water. On some days you are allowed a small salmon steak or beef steak so this fad diet is easier to tackle then some other ones. I learnt that to make the soups more flavoursome I use vegetable stock cubes to boil my cabbage in.
4. 3 Day Diet
Dieters have claimed they have lost 5-8 pounds in just 3 days. The menu consists 3 set meals, relatively all salad based but all meals in really small portions. You are even allowed a scoop of ice cream! This diet does seem to good to be true but I am very tempted to give this one a go. The most attractive part of the diet is that it only last 3 days.
This was the big Hollywood diet last year. The diet consists of Fibrous complex carbohydrates, basically green vegetables. Some green vegetables like celery, broccoli, asparagus and courgettes take more of your bodies energy to digest. For example a stick of celery is 5 cal and it takes 95 cal for your body to digest it, this means negative calories. the way the diet works is that fibrous vegetables fill you up, so by consuming low calories belly filling foods it will cause weight loss rapidly.
